OS X version :
The main asset of this new OS X version is to overcome the limits inherent in the 1.x kernel (15 types, 16 subtypes, 12 scales, requirement for using MacMapper® to create new databases...) by using a new database format. The sharing of tables between databases is also made possible with this new format... MacMap® v3 includes a new display engine based on the OS X Quartz technology which allows for high quality plotting on the screen and publishing of PDF files. Finally, the description of settings (display, calculation formulas, selection masks...) is done in XML format in a way that facilitates the porting of applications to other environments, and lets advanced users optimize some settings (particularly display settings).
The conversion of databases created using previous versions is done via a plugin for MacMap® 1.x (versions 1.3 to 2005) which restricts user operations.
MacMap® is available for Mac OS 10.4 to 10.5, PowerPC™ and Intel™.
